WILL MY PET PASS AWAY PEACEFULLY ON HIS OR HER OWN?
Dr Kym has been providing housecall euthanasias since 2016, in her experience, these are observations seen with pets who have been left to linger on longer, than expected.
- Pets with debilitating illnesses suffer enormously if left to pass without assistance.
- Pain, dehydration and starvation are the most common welfare issues seen with terminal pets.
- Arthritis and Mobility issues are the most common health issues that influence pet parents to make euthanasia plans for their pets
- Some pets can become parasitised by fly larvae (maggots) when they are unable to move, these larvae can sometimes migrate to the inside your pet.
- A euthanasia plan helps to avoid an after hours dash to an emergency vet which can become an expensive exercise.
- Pets that are left to linger on in the hope they will pass away on their own, cause enormous distress to pet owners as well as Veterinarians.
- The kindest thing you can do as your pets guardian and owner is to offer a plan for passing that ends suffering and pain.
